Hiya pals,
Happy happy friday! Hope you have all had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend. I sure am - tomorrow I'm going to my first ever rugby match with Robin, so very excited about that. It's meant to be snowing though (aaaaaaa) which means it might be a little chilly in the stands. Hopefully Scotland will go us proud so we will be doing lots of jumping about and dancing with all our goals. Is goals even the right word? I am going to be such a rubbish fan haha.
I was so lucky last week to go to see my favourite band Frightened Rabbit, so thought I would share some of my photos. What an amazing night! Robin got me the tickets for my Christmas, so it was nice for the end of February to finally come so we could go to the Barrowlands, a gig venue in Glasgow. The Barrowlands is definitely my favourite gig venue - it used to be a ballroom, so has a sprung floor which is quite cool when the crowd is jumping and my Gran used to tell me she went dancing there when she was young. It is quite an intimate venue too, so you do really feel close to the action and the atmosphere is always electric.
| Wintersleep! Sadly I deleted my picture of Three Blind Wolves by mistake |
There were two support bands, Three Blind Wolves and the WinterSleep, both of whom were really good and I would go and see them if they were touring. I particularly liked Weighty Ghost by Wintersleep, just such a catching tune and definitely had me dancing. If you like Frightened Rabbit, I think you will also like these guys - they wouldn't be touring with them if they were rubbish!
| SO CLOSE to the front! Amazing! |
Frightened Rabbit were amazing, absolutely amazing and really got the crowd going. The other times I have seem them the atmosphere has been amazing and everyone in the crowd is completely behind the band, singing along and really getting into the gig and last week was no exception. For those of you who don't know Frightened Rabbit, please check them out - they are a Scottish indie rock band with catchy tunes, like this posts namesake, The Loneliness and the Scream, My Backwards Walk and Poke to name but a few. They have also just released a new album, Pedestrian Verse ahead of their American tour which is already a favourite with me.
We managed to get quite close to the front which was so good, even a little one like me could see which was great as that doesn't happen very much! With the movement and jumping of the crowd we ended up completely at the opposite side to where we started and I almost lost my shoes a few times, although with the number of gigs I have been at you would have thought I would have learned not to wear ballet pumps! My voice was so horse the next day from all the singing along and I had bruises all over my shins and feet (what was I doing?!?) but it was worth it. Love them!
Do you like Frightened Rabbit? Have you been to one of their gigs?
Today's song on repeat - The Woodpile, Frightened Rabbit. Here is a song from the new album for you...it's a goodie and very catchy!
